A Look Back at Our Successful Medical Mission at Wellcare Unitop

On Saturday, November 30, 2024, Wellcare Clinics, in collaboration with Hospital on Wheels and other esteemed organizations, proudly hosted a free Surgical, Dental, Optical, and General Medical Mission at our Unitop Branch. This incredible event underscored our unwavering commitment to community health and well-being.

A Day of Service and Compassion

We are thrilled to share that the event was a resounding success! Our team of dedicated healthcare professionals, along with volunteer specialists, provided vital healthcare services to hundreds of individuals. Here are some highlights:

• Surgical Services: Patients benefitted from 80 free surgical operations, addressing critical health concerns and improving their quality of life.

• General Medical Consultations: A total of 110 consultations were conducted, offering expert medical advice and care.

• Dental Services: Participants benefitted from free dental check-ups, including 150 tooth extractions, to enhance their oral health.

• Optical Services: Vision checks were conducted, and 160 attendees received free reading eyeglasses, bringing clarity to many lives.

• Pharmacy Services: Attendees were provided with free prescription drugs and vitamins to support their health needs.

This mission was not just about delivering healthcare—it was about fostering hope and building a stronger, healthier community. The overwhelming support and participation from the public, along with our partners at House on Wheels and other organizations, made this event truly special.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jim Sanchez and the entire Hospital on Wheels (HOW) team for their invaluable contributions. Dr. Sanchez shared an inspiring message:

"The Last Mile" My life's journey has been like running a marathon. Becoming a doctor is the last mile of my race, a dream I’ve pursued with every ounce of my energy.

I remember my father's advice: 'Give your best in everything you do.' His words have been my constant guide. And my mother’s compassion lives on in me. Once, after giving alms to a beggar, she said, 'Always help the poor and the weak.' Those simple but powerful words shaped my purpose.

I don’t see myself as a hero—I just want to make a difference, however small, and be a good example to my children. Helping others, especially the underserved, is my way of honoring the values my parents instilled in me."
